Always with the shoots!
I'm Alexis Armstrong, and 43North77West is mine.
I'm from Rochester, and I found my way into this at Seton Hall, where taking pictures went from a habit to the thing I couldn't stop doing. Fifteen years later I'm still at it, mostly portraits, families, and brand work, usually in Greensboro, often somewhere else.
All About Me
I came up in graphic design too, which changed how I shoot. I'm not just looking for a good frame, I'm looking for the one that says something. That's the difference between a nice photo and a photo you keep.
Outside the studio I run workshops, mostly for women of color, mostly about the thing that stops people from taking up space. I care about that more than I care about most of what's in a bio.
The rest: three daughters, bad jokes I refuse to apologize for, and a running list of places I still want to photograph.
If you want to see how I work, look at the portfolio. If you want to know if we'll get along, keep reading the rest of this site.
